For Me

You may or may not know that I started blogging over 10 years ago when I won a contest called Weigh Into Win.  It was sponsored by our local CBS station, WTOL, the YMCA, and Mercy Weight Mgt.  I had a personal trainer, a food plan, and was a local 'celebrity' as the community watch my progress on TV and read my blog.  I did well on the program, reaching my goal weight of around 150 pounds.  I was 46 at that time and maintained that weight until I turned 50.

At 56, I am beginning another serious weight loss journey.  I am fifty pounds overweight.  For whatever reason, I admit it, I have gained fifty pounds and seem to want to maintain that weight.  This morning, I weighed in at a whopping 206.1 pounds.  This morning, I also began a Nutrisystem program.  I chose this program for a couple of reasons.

During 2016 I had surgeries on the same foot, each requiring eight weeks of non-weight bearing compliance.  I gained twenty pounds after the first surgery in March.  When I found out that I needed a second surgery in September, I said I cannot afford to gain that much, if any more weight.  I weighed in at 212 on the day of my surgery, one year ago.  Kudos to me, for not gaining any more weight.  With the help of Mercy Weight Mgt.'s Group Lifestyle Balance, I didn't gain and actually lost a few pounds, even though my activity level was much lower than usual.

Once my year was up on the Group Lifestyle Balance, I knew that I had to go back to a portion controlled plan.  A plan where I could only eat their prepared meals.  I thought I would give nutrisystem a try as it was just a little bit more affordable than the HMR.  I also wanted to know if their food had improved over the past 10 years as my sister Rosi had given me some of hers back then when I was in maintenance after using HMR products.  (I liked the HMR much better at the time!)

I'm reminding myself that I feel better when I am not overweight.  I know that my feet will appreciate not having to support over 200 pounds.  I can do this!
